CETL GUB x FLTR Hosts 3-day TAL-8 Certificate Course - November 10-12, 2022

Foundation for Learning, Teaching and Research (FLTR) and Center of Excellence for Teaching and Learning (CETL) - Green University jointly organized a three-day certificate course on Teaching for Active Learning (TAL-8) that has been completed with the aim to improve the quality of higher education from November 10-12 at the Green University of Bangladesh (GUB) city campus. A total of 20 faculty members from six public and private universities attended in the course which was designed for orienting and developing teaching and learning skills of senior and junior faculty members. 

Prof. Dr Md. Golam Samdani Fakir, Vice Chancellor of GUB and Chairperson of the fLTR provided overall guidance and acted as the lead facilitator and director for the course. Along with some eminent educationists like Prof. Yousuf Mahbubul Islam, Former Vice Chancellor of DIU; Dean of IUB, Dr. M. R. Kabir, Prof. of DIU, Prof Dr Md. Mozahar Ali, Director, GTI, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Prof. Md. Abdur Razzaque, Pro-Vice Chancellor of GUB, Prof. Dr. ASM Shihavuddin, Director of CETL - Green University facilitated different sessions of the course. In the certificate giving ceremony Prof. Dr. Biswajit Chanda, Member, University Grants Commission (UGC) spoke as chief guest and Prof. Yousuf Mahbubul Islam, Former Vice Chancellor of DIU, Prof. Syed Saad Andaleeb, Former Vice Chancellor of BRAC University; Professor Emeritus of Pennsylvania State University, USA while Prof. Dr Md. Golam Samdani Fakir, Vice Chancellor of GUB and Chairperson of the fLTR chaired the closing session.


The Foundation for Learning, Teaching and Research (fLTR) is a collective initiative of nine vice chancellors of reputed private universities based on the findings of intensive research on the quality of teaching and learning at higher education in Bangladesh. As an initial initiative, the foundation is going to offer a certificate course on Teaching for Active Learning (TAL-8), designed especially for the new instructors of private/public universities of Bangladesh. The course will be facilitated in workshop mode and will run for three full working days which deals with fundamental requirements for teaching and learning at the university level. However, the fLTR is also planning to offer a long duration Diploma course both on teaching, learning and research.
