Workshop for Students: Online Assessment-Dos and Don'ts

The Center of Excellence for Teaching and Learning organized the first event of the certificate workshop series for Green University students to develop their academic competency, on July 26, 2021. The "Online Assessment: Dos and Don'ts" titled workshop for students was facilitated by Ms. Fairooz Saiyara, who is pursuing her bachelor's degree at the Department of English, GUB. She is one of the high scorers in GUB online assessments, apart from offering voluntary services to our University.


She is one of the high scorers in GUB online assessments, apart from offering voluntary services to our University, she's been working at CETL as a Content Development Intern and Social Media Manager. Her paper presentation at a recent seminar on John Keats at the Dept. of English has earned her huge appreciation from a scholarly audience. In her current research project, she is working with Mr. Ashik Istiak, Senior Lecturer, Dept. of English, GUB, to observe Sufi elements in selected Romantic literature.


At the beginning of the workshop, participants shared their experiences that play a vital role in impacting the academic result. The facilitator shared her experiences to deal with those issues in unique ways. 


A number of 300 students signed up for the workshop and 177 students actively participated in the event. The brief session pertained in zoom from 7:30pm to 8:30pm. The objectives of the session were to 1.Develop academic competency of GUBians, 2. Symposium between seniors and freshers, 3.Identifying fears, obstacles, and misconceptions regarding online assessment, 4.Unite students to take on e-learning challenges, 5.Making education more fun.




In the workshop post-test, the participants could recall the workshop findings and remarkably implement them. A contrastive observation of the workshop pre-test and post-test revealed that the participants acquired something new from the event which will ease their future academic endeavors. The enthusiasm and contribution of the students made the workshop a success.
