The global pandemic of COVID-19 has been going on for over a year, causing loss and having a detrimental socioeconomic impact on several countries. New recovery routes for a more resilient and prosperous future, generating more jobs and better health outcomes can be initiated after the lessons learned from the pandemic.
The IsDB has a long history of leveraging the capabilities of science, technology, and innovation (STI) to address global development issues. The Transform Fund, which was established in 2018, invests in the testing and scaling of early-stage innovative ideas by granting seed money to innovators, entrepreneurs, startups, SMEs, and institutions. The fund provides much-needed seed money or expansion capital to help entrepreneurs create and commercialize technologies that will have a positive economic and social effect on the IsDB member countries.
The Transform Fund Call for Innovation 2021 will be solely dedicated to assisting the Member Countries in recovering from the COVID-19 epidemic in order to build a stronger, more resilient, and prosperous future. The Call for Innovation will find, encourage, and reward innovative, high-impact proposals that boost the economy covering the following SDG goals: Zero hunger, Good health, and Well-being, Quality Education, Clean Water, and Sanitation, Affordable and Clean Energy and Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure.
CETL has applied for this grant under category four: Capacity Building in Science, technology, and Innovation by 31 May 2021.
